Frequently asked questions
Good questions.
Straight answers.
What to know before you bring your claim to Bill.
Is Bill Cook an attorney?
No. Bill Cook is a fleet revenue recovery consultant. William S. Cook & Associates provides consulting and claim-recovery services, not legal advice or legal representation. If your situation requires a lawyer, consult a licensed attorney.
What does it cost to have my claims reviewed?
The initial review is free and carries no obligation. For an accepted claim, you keep 60% of any recovery and the 40% fee comes only from the recovery. If nothing is recovered, you owe nothing. The written agreement sets out the terms.
What types of claims should I bring?
Start with commercial vehicle accident files involving lost revenue, diminished value, or unpaid administrative, towing, and storage expenses. Bill focuses on stalled or written-off files after your own recovery efforts have run out of steam.
What documents should I gather?
Begin with the repair invoice, accident or police report, and rate or utilization log. Include claim numbers, insurer correspondence, repair dates, payment details, and any relevant towing or storage receipts you already have.
Do I have to send several claims?
Fleet operators can start with 3–5 stalled claims. If you are an owner-operator with one claim, contact Bill to discuss whether it fits.
How does the recovery arrangement work?
For accepted files, William S. Cook & Associates acquires the claim rights through a written agreement to pursue recovery. You are paid your 60% share when a recovery is made. Review the assignment and recovery terms before proceeding.
Can Bill review a claim after the repair bill has been paid?
Yes, you can ask for a review. A repair payment and other claimed losses are different parts of the file. Any settlement, release, prior payment, and relevant deadline must be reviewed before next steps are agreed.
Is recovery guaranteed?
No. Recovery depends on the facts, supporting records, coverage, agreements, and applicable law. A review identifies potential next steps; it does not promise payment or a particular amount.
How long does recovery take?
There is no fixed timeline. Missing documents, disputed facts, coverage questions, and the other party’s response can affect progress. Bill will discuss the practical next steps after reviewing the file.
Can you help outside Orlando?
Bill is based in Orlando, Florida. Contact him with the state where the accident occurred and the location of your business. Claim suitability and service availability are reviewed individually.
Should I upload private claim documents here?
Start with a short description and contact Bill by phone. He can confirm how to provide documents. This website’s review worksheet prepares a summary on your device; it does not upload your files or submit a claim.
