Diminished Value

A repaired vehicle can still carry a financial loss. Give that lost value a closer look.

Repaired commercial vehicle in an inspection workshop

Repaired and financially restored are different questions.

A vehicle can be back in service while concerns about its accident history remain. Diminished value is the term commonly used for a reduction in market value associated with damage history, even after repairs.

Bill helps organize the records needed to evaluate that question. A value claim needs support specific to the vehicle; a general percentage is not a substitute for the facts.

Start with the vehicle’s story.

Good records make it easier to understand the vehicle’s condition before the incident, the work performed, and the basis of any valuation.

  • VIN, make, model, year, mileage, and equipment details
  • Pre-incident condition and service records you already have
  • Damage photos, repair estimates, and final invoices
  • Any existing appraisal or comparable market information

Review the value that may have been overlooked.

Bring any prior offer or release as well as the repair documents. Bill will review the economic details and discuss whether further evaluation is appropriate. Specialist appraisal work, if needed, should be agreed before proceeding.
